In a high percentage of romance novels, the woman is swooning over a wealthy man’s money. I’m not making fun of that theme, but in my novels I’m offering an alternative. In my romantic comedies, the woman is swooning over a working-class man’s moral character.
I like to create a diverse set of characters in my novels, and let them engage in debates in which multiple perspectives on political, social, and cultural issues are presented.
I believe my romance novels deliver laughs with a high enough frequency to earn inclusion in the romantic comedy genre. But readers be warned, much of my humor is raunchy and irreverent. Also, I try to avoid writing love scenes that are too graphic, but prudes are definitely not my target audience.
